Updated at 3PM There was a major error with my results spreadsheet from last week (user input interface error).  I’ve updated the results and we actually managed a tiny profit and you may have done better if you managed to get better odds. Hat Tip: Gary.

After all the focus on the Golden Chase recently, it’s a distinctly low key meeting at Palmerston North today.  The only meeting today has just 9 races.

The TAB is offering bonus back bets on the first two races but nothing of value jumps out although in race 2 there’s five starters and they will pay out bonus bets back to fourth.

There’s not a lot to get excited about today so just the two bets.

Good punting

Race 4 Stay Connected (2)

There’s a couple of things worth noting.  First, the last three starts have all been in much more competitive fields (restricted age, invitationals C2/3 etc) while today he’s back to C1/2.  Second, there’s an empty box on his inside and there’s a lack of speed in box 3.  He’s 1 from 1 box 2 as well.  He’s also 3 wins from  6 starts allowing for the fact that a couple of the losses were in much tougher company.  Finally, he actually has the two best times here over the last 90 days.  It is a competitive race but he does look well placed.

Third NTD.  Average start and to be fair an average run after that and never really threatened.  Will be interested in what the sectionals tell us.

Race 6 Electrical Storm (1)

We had Electrical Storm as a value runner last week and he ran second behind Lebron.  He rates on top and as noted last week has recently downgraded.  Last week was actually a C2/3 race and it’s a straight C2 today.  Lebron is the obvious danger but he can be a little hit and miss at the start.  Electrical Storm has run a faster career best at PN and also has the better time over the distance in his last 6 starts.  Slippery Suzie almost certainly looks the early leader and one to throw into exotics.

First.  Once he got away as well as he did, he was right in the race.  He railed perfectly and with Lebron taking the Foxton diversion he got a winning break and it was a comfortable win.  Q of $5 paid overs.
